Heart Health Clinical Research Study
Are you concerned about your heart health? Join our clinical research study and take proactive steps to prevent heart attacks and strokes. This study uses a non-invasive detailed heart scan to detect early signs of heart disease. - Access to Results: Depending on the treatment arm you are randomized into, you will either receive your detailed heart scan results during the study, reviewed with you by a cardiologist-led team, or at the end of the study.
Criteria:
- Be a man over 55 years old or a woman over 65 years old
- Have only ONE of the following: type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, or multiple risk factors for heart and metabolic health (like high blood pressure, high fasting glucose, or a BMI over 27)
- Not have any past or current heart problems such as strokes, heart attacks, or heart surgeries
- Weigh less than 400 pounds (136 kg)
- Be able to hold your breath for more than 10 seconds
- Not have a history of thyroid cancer in the past five years
- Have a regular heartbeat without arrhythmia
- Not have an e-GFR under 60 mL/min/1.73 m² (Chronic kidney disease is not exclusionary unless e-GFR is under 60)
- Not be allergic to iodinated contrast or have a history of contrast-induced nephropathy
- Be able to fast before coming in for blood work, unless you have type 2 diabetes and are on active medication
Qualified Participants May Receive:
- Receive up to $740 for your participation, including $125 for your initial CT scan visit, $50 for your Day 1 visit, $100 for the 24-month CT scan, $30 for each remote visit (at 3, 6, and 12 months, then every 6 months), plus an additional $10 per visit for any CAD Stage Based Care (up to $120).
- (2) CT scans, which would typically be over $500 each if paid out of pocket, are fully covered by the study (free).
